A free evening at the museum – music, artist talks, workshops & more
Breda, get ready: Stedelijk Museum Breda presents UNLOCKED. Four times a year, we open our doors in the evening after regular closing hours, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, for a special free museum experience. Visit all exhibitions, enjoy live music, snacks and drinks, and be inspired by an in-depth program curated by a Breda-based partner.
Each edition, a different partner is given the key, ensuring that no evening is ever the same.
The first edition, who else could it be, is organized by Blind Walls Gallery, inspired by the exhibition STRAAT KUNST MUSEUM currently on view at the museum. You are welcome on Friday, September 19, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. What can you expect? DJ sets, artist talks, workshops, live screen printing, and more. All of this as an extra layer on top of our current exhibitions.
For one time only, the walls of Blind Walls Gallery are moving indoors. With STREET ART MUSEUM, the museum in the streets and the museum in the Boschstraat join forces. With remarkable stories from the Boschstraat as a starting point, 13 street artists bring color to the museum walls.
Rob van Dijck, Willehad Eilers, ESPO, Handiedan, Joren Joshua, Otecki, Pink Painter, Reskate, Danny Rumbl, Rutger Termohlen, Toscanabanana, Super A and Monos Sotos transform the walls with immersive murals.
Photography plays an essential role in street art; when the art disappears, photographs remain as silent witnesses. The creation process is also often documented, as a one-time performance.
On the patio, you will find an exhibition by photographers Joost van Asch, Chantal van den Berg, Duizenddingen, Karlijn van den Elshout, Rob Lipsius, Rosa Meininger, Ralph Roelse and Edwin Wiekens. Together, they have taken more than 10,000 photos over the past 10 years of Breda’s Blind Walls, capturing sunny images in all kinds of weather, from scaffolding, lifts and ladders.
The complete program will be available here in early September. Stay tuned
