Friday 16 October
Friday 16 October marks the return of the Popronde in Breda. The Popronde is the Netherlands’ largest travelling music festival, which takes place every autumn. It offers (as yet) unknown acts the opportunity to perform outside their own region. During this travelling music festival, Merle and Favour will be performing for us in the museum café.
Merle creates Dutch-language alt-pop that gets under your skin. Synthesizers, intimate guitar-driven songs and breakbeats take turns, whilst her songs constantly shift in tone. Catchy and unpredictable at the same time, with lyrics that really resonate. In her live performances, Merle combines vulnerability with humour and self-deprecation, giving her show a personal feel. You can find her music here.
Favour is the artist project by producer Tom Meijer. After years in the studio, to produce the album Lieve Monsters by Sef amongst other things, Meijer has returned to the stage. On stage, he weaves together vocals, electronic sounds and real-time effects to create songs that are sometimes danceable, sometimes dreamy, and strike a balance between the organic and the electronic, between melancholy and unbridled energy. Listen here to his songs.
