What does it mean to create an exhibition as a young artist? How do you play with the expectations? How do you deal with the (temporary) high visibility? And how do you approach it together as a group?
As part of the Raketstart – Nieuwe beeldende kunst in Breda (new art in Breda) exhibition, Stedelijk Museum Breda and Van GoghGalerie in Zundert are organising the Air Baptism project.
Esther Schaminée and Ian Skirvin, both graduates of St Joost School of Art & Design in Breda, made a selection of four recent graduates at this year’s graduation show. With Linda Bresser, Stan Gonera (AKV | St Joost Breda) and Pjotr van Leeuwen and Marloes Vreeswijk (AKV | St Joost ‘s Hertogenbosch) they will work together for a month on the Air Baptism exhibition in Stadsgalerij Breda, which opens on Saturday 24 August.
The six young artists created Air Baptism together: except for the space and the dates, everything else was left to them. Within a fixed budget, they made their own choices: who they wanted to talk to, how they wanted to use the space, which events they wanted to organise, and so on.
Opening: Saturday, 24 August, from 5 p.m.
The festive opening took place in the Stadsgalerij on Saturday 24 August. The exhibition was opened by Marianne de Bie, Alderman for Culture, Youth & Education. More information: https://www.facebook.com/event...
